Principal's Corner:

January 2017

A message from the principal…

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Christmas vacation. January will be a very busy month as we prepare for Midterm exams in grades 3 through 8. Also, our second quarter report cards will be distributed the week of January 30th. Finally, Catholic Schools Week will commence on January 30th as well with a host of activities planned to celebrate our Catholic Schools.

I want to thank everyone for their generosity leading up to Christmas as we collected gloves and mittens that were delivered to the Concourse House located at 2751 Grand Concourse. Our “pajama drive” was also successful as Visitation families donated over 50 pajamas that will delivered by “Scholastic Books” to needy families. Your generosity always impresses me!

As mentioned, midterms will take place starting on Tuesday, January 17th. Please review and prepare with your child. Teachers will be providing a study guide in preparation of the exams. Remember, a failure of a midterm eliminates a student from achieving Honors for the quarter so please study!

Mrs. Broetsky continues to work hard with the Drama Club on the production of “The Little Mermaid Jr.” The play was previewed at our Christmas Concert and the audience loved it! The play will be presented on Friday, February 3rd at 7 p.m., Saturday, February 4th at 2 p.m. and Sunday, February 5th at 1 p.m. We wish Mrs. Broetsky and the Drama Club the best of luck.

Finally, Catholic Schools Week will take place the week of January 30th. To celebrate our school we plan to host a school mass on Wednesday, February 1st at 9:00 am celebrated by Father Christopher Devron, President of Fordham Prep. We will also host “Touring Tuesday”, a school Spelling Bee, and an appearance by Joseph Fields, a magician who will perform for the students in auditorium.

So, as you can see we will be very busy. Thank you for all your support and have a happy and healthy new year!

Sincerely,

Mr. White
